Public Involvement
MTO is committed to an extensive consultation and engagement program that actively engages and involves members of the public, municipalities, Indigenous Communities, regulatory agencies, businesses and industry throughout the Planning, Preliminary Design and Class EA Study process. As such, the Project Team welcomes comments regarding the Highway 15/Perth Road Intersection Improvements. To comply with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, all comments received, with the exception of personal information, will become part of the public record.
Study Notifications
Notification of project milestones (Study Commencement, Public Information Centres, and Study Completion) will be announced through a notice advertised in the Ottawa Citizen (hardcopy and/or online), Smith Falls Record News (online) and posted on this website. External agencies, Indigenous Communities, Township of Beckwith, Lanark County, emergency services and anyone on the study contact list will be notified through direct mail/email (as applicable).
The Consultation Plan included:
- Notice of Preliminary Design Study Commencement
- Consultation with regulatory agencies and stakeholders
- Communication with Indigenous Communities
- Communication with property owners, residents, and businesses in the study area
- Two Public Information Centres (PICs)
- Preparation of a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR)
- Notice of Study Completion and public comment period of the TESR
Stakeholder input will be incorporated into the project findings and recommendations as appropriate.

Public Information Centres (PICs)
External agency and public consultation will take place throughout the study, including Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) Meetings and two rounds of Public Information Centers (PICs).
PIC #1
The purpose of the first PIC was to introduce the project, provide background information, review the study process, existing site conditions, need and justification, generation of preliminary alternatives, the evaluation criteria which will be used to assess the alternatives, and next steps in the study. It provided an opportunity to discuss issues or concerns directly with members of the Project Team. Displays and presentation materials are available on this site following the PIC #1 beginning on May 23, 2025.
